At this stage there have been 12 masses in the parish where a congregation has been able to attend. It has been possible to accommodate everybody who came to the church and to do so in a safe manner.

In planning for the resumption of mass safety was our highest priority. To this end we made a number of changes to our regular routine. Please see the guidelines below:

Attending Mass in Sruleen Parish

Thank you very much to everybody who has made the return of mass so smooth and so safe.  We look forward to seeing more new faces in the coming days.

Volunteering in Your Parish

volunteer_final.png

Here in the parish of Sruleen, we’re indebted to the work that our volunteers do on a daily basis across the parish. It begins with the morning time with the opening of the gates, the unlocking of the church, sacristans getting ready for Mass, flowers, cleaning, hospitality, music, sacramental preparation and everything in between up to closing the gates at night. Volunteering can be something you do daily, weekly or monthly. What you can contribute is much appreciated and needed!

By clicking on Ministries & Groups section of the website, you will find the ministries that are currently happening in the parish and are always looking for someone to give their time and talent to. If you would like to know more, there are various groups to get involved with, or else, get in touch with Fr Vincent.

All parish staff and volunteers are Garda vetted and follow the Safeguarding procedures  and policies very carefully in all that we do. You can find out more about this in our Policy & Procedures section of the website and find the details for Garda Vetting.

If you are interested in volunteering please get in touch with one of the priests.

GETTING MARRIED IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

Booking Your Wedding

The Church requires a minimum of Three Months’ Notice, i.e., to the Parish where you intend to marry and to the Parish where you live, if they are different.

The State also requires three months’ notice, to be given to the Registrar of Marriages.

Marriage Preparation

Formal marriage preparation is a requirement in the Dublin Diocese.

You therefore need to make your plans well in advance.

Couples intending to marry need to do a recognised Pre-Marriage Course. They need to book it 6 – 9 months before their wedding day.

The preferred choice of the Catholic Church is Marriage Preparation Courses under the aegis of ACCORD Catholic Marriage Care Service.

Their website is http://www.accord.ie

Paperwork

Before a marriage takes place, it must be established that nothing stands in the way of its valid and lawful celebration.

Each party to the wedding must complete the Pre-Nuptial Enquiry Form. Normally it is the priest in the Parish where you live who will complete this form with you. He will need to meet with you about two months before the date of your wedding. In order to fill out the Pre-Nuptial Enquiry Form you will need the following:

  • A recent Baptism Certificate which you should get from the Church you were baptised dated withing 6 months of pre-marriage.
  • A Confirmation Certificate
  • A Letter of Freedom from anywhere you have lived for six months or more since reaching the age of 18 years. Sometimes a Sworn Affidavit may be required to establish freedom to marry.
  • A Certificate from the Pre-Marriage Course.
  • Depending on your circumstances, other documentation may be necessary.

Please contact the parish office if you have any further queries.
